About me

I am an associate professor of Decision Analytics and Operations in the College of Business, City University of Hong Kong. I received my bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2009, and my Ph.D. in Statistics and Operations Research from UNC Chapel Hill in 2014. From 2014 to 2016, I was an Eyes High scholar at the Haskayne School of Business, during which I collaborated closely with Alberta Health Services and emergency departments in Alberta, Canada.

My research focuses on the modeling, analysis, and control of stochastic systems. I am particularly interested in applications arising from healthcare and smart-city operations, including (i) patient flow management in hospital emergency departments; (ii) emergency response management in the aftermath of mass-casualty events; and (iii) optimal charging strategies for battery swapping stations. I received the College Research Excellence Awards in 2023, and was recognized for Outstanding Teaching Performance (top 5% of teachers) at City University of Hong Kong in both 2023 and 2025.
